First and foremost I am a problem solver. My passion is converting laborious, error prone manual systems into automated systems. A voluminous script writer, I have automated software builds with makefiles and ant scripts and created processes to update software on multiple remote machines from a single control centre.
A successful Software Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in systems analysis and programming, having worked in the retail point-of-sale industry, and also in the toll road and railway control systems industries.
My particular emphasis has been on back end and communications software written specifically for high availability systems on UNIX platforms.
Comprehensive knowledge, experience and strong skills in Java, C, C++, and UNIX shell scripts on various UNIX and Linux platforms.
Competent SQL programmer, having experience with Sybase and Oracle databases.
Excellent communication skills working actively at promoting and maintaining good relationships with colleagues and customers.
An excellent problem solver with skills and experience dealing with Linux system administration, automated software updating, system integration and Quality Assurance (QA).
Strong interest in software quality, having completed a graduate diploma at Griffith University and a Spice Assessors course at the Software Quality Institute.
